For those who are led by the Spirit of God, are children of God...the Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that, we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ...” Romans 8:14,16-17
Who am I? This is a question that intelligent human beings have been asking since the beginning of time. The search for identity, purpose and meaning is common to us all.
We spend the energies of our lives searching for identities in roles that we perform, scripts that we write and in attempting to fulfill the expectations of others. Although these pursuits are important and even noble, they fail to completely answer the question of our true identity or to fill the existential void in our soul that is searching for authenticity, meaning and wholeness.
In Romans 8 God introduces us to ourself our true, authentic, eternal self . "We are children of God, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ."
Wow! We are not only children of but also heirs of an all-knowing, all-loving, all-powerful Father in heaven.
What are the implications of this truth? What are the possibilities of this truth?
What are the responsibilities that accompany this truth?
When we come to terms with our true identity, our true legacy, we begin to unleash the power of the Holy Spirit. We begin to live out our inheritance in our daily lives, and our lives are forever changed.
The Regina Academy at Saint John the Baptist is an example of what happens when a community accepts its inheritance. In the past five years we have witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit unleashed as God has lead, loved and inspired us to accept our sacred responsibility to pass on our inheritance to future generations of God's children. We have seen the possibilities of acknowledging our true ancestry in the daily miracles that have occurred to save and rebuild His humble school.
On Thursday, May 18th at 8:30 AM in the school gym, The Academy's Board of Directors will host our Second Annual Knowing Loving Serving Leading Fundraising Breakfast. This 60-minute event will illuminate and celebrate the miraculous success God has bestowed on The Academy.
There is no cost for the breakfast; however, there will be an opportunity to consider making a gift to ensure the success of the Academy. There is no requirement. All we ask is that you prayerfully discern this opportunity to support God’s future plan for His Academy.
Please register at www.sjbottsville.org/breakfast or call Geoff Meyer at 610-960-7062 to register.
I invite you to please attend and help us "Unleash the Holy Spirit" as we come together to collectively and individually, answer the question, "Who am I?”
Be prepared to be deeply moved and inspired in your own faith journey as we proclaim our only true identity as children of God.
