On July 21-23, 2016, the Regina Academies enjoyed hosting the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education at RCA in Abington where our faculties received The Spirit and Craft of Teaching workshop. It was a great success, and our faculty members benefited from the wisdom and ideas that the staff of ICLE, The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education, gave to them.
As a continuation of that excellent workshop, the Regina Academies plans to sponsor a follow-up to take place later this fall. There will be no charge to each individual Regina Academy. Mrs. Mary Pat Donoghue, Head Consultant for Primary Schools for the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education, (and formerly Head of School at St. Jerome Catholic School in Hyattsville, MD) will be visiting each Regina Academy. During her day long visit, she will be observing faculty who would like feedback on how they are implementing Classical pedagogy. She will also make a presentation to the entire faculty at the end of the school day.
Mrs. Donoghue should be able to observe most of the faculty from each school (6 or 7). Teachers are to be made aware of her visit beforehand and encouraged to send their lesson plan to her in advance. She wants everyone to know that the purpose of these observances is NOT to assess teaching ability, rather it it to help encourage teachers in cultivating their ability to implement the Classical Model well in their classroom.
Mrs. Donoghue will visit RA@SJB on Wednesday, November 30. This is a full day of school for students.
