Dear Regina Academy at St. John Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mr. Nio Logaivau [pronounced: Long – eye- vowel], and I am excited to be the new Music and Physical Education teacher. I have studied music, majoring in concert band. This includes brass instruments like trumpet, trombone, tuba and the percussion section. I also have the ability to teach these instruments as I have for over 10 years in primary as well as high school level. I have also studied voice and choral arrangement. I have the ability to direct the choir in church and school by working with the priest in low medium and high Mass. Also, I have taught rudiments and theory of music, which will enable students to read and write music. I will also be available to teach musical instrument lessons.
I have experience teaching physical education in high school for ten years. The sports included in the curriculum include gym athletics, soccer, rugby, touch rugby hockey, soft ball, netball, volleyball, table tennis. I also coached the respective school teams I represented in high school in athletics and other sports mentioned.
In 1993 I started playing soccer at national and in international level as well. I represented my country and played many international test matches. This includes playing in soccer World Cup elimination championships.
After retiring from playing, I was nominated from Fiji to study and attained my International Coaching License in England. I was attached to study in Aston Villa Football Academy to learn how to operate and manage a soccer academy and developing the game right up to professional level.
By profession, I am also a soccer instructor for juniors (1 – 12 yrs.), youth (13 – 19) and seniors (20 yrs. and above) for both men and women. This experience enabled me to obtain knowledge of good understanding of sports medicine, physiology, psychology management, administration, sports equipment and leadership, coaches and players behavior and be able to control large number of people.
While working for the Oceania Football Confederation in 2012 to 2014, I wrote game reports to FIFA, and made recommendations to international teams to help them improve performance technicalities.
I also worked as a soccer football First Aider including disable children in schools.
With the glory and greatness of God, I keep this bible verse from Phil: 4:13, - I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME. It is my wish and that I will be a responsible faculty member and coach at the Regina Academy to benefit future young generations.
Akuila Usenio Logaivau. (Mr.)
Music and Gym Teacher
